I couldn’t wait a couple of days for the official release, so I just manually upgraded my EVO using the update file from HTC. Had to dig around a bit for the instructions, so thought I’d share the love by posting a walkthrough for those of you who want to do the same. My phone is not a brick, but I can’t guarantee the same results for you.

• First, get the file (The direct HTC lnk seems to have been removed, so here is my copy)
• Save it to the root folder of your SD card, call it update.zip.
• Shut off the phone.
• Hold the volume up button, press and hold the power button, while still holding volume up.
• Choose Bootloader, then Recovery
• On the black screen with the red exclamation point, hold volume up and power buttons again.
• Choose the “update.zip” option.
• Wait a bit…reboot, wait some more…enjoy!
